# Distributed Flows

Hi all,

From watching GenStage and Flow - [José Valim (Lambda Days 2017)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPlXNUXmcgE) at 46:00 José discussed what the next steps for Distributed support would be.

I haven’t been able to find much info on how this has progressed since then - any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. Or if there hasn’t been much work undertaken; any thoughts on why it was not pursued would be interesting to discuss.

Well, I think there was not much work on this front. I think that the reason is basically that distribution is not easy, and it comes with a lot of caveats, so having a `Flow`-like lib for distributed processing could generate more problems than it would actually solve.

I say that because making complex stuff - that you really need to think well when you’re doing - too easy, might lead to people using it to do stuff that is not a good fit for it.
